Background
Joe Ward would tease the release via multiple Instagram posts throughout mid to late 2019. A now deleted post showcased the trash bag coat (which Ward had made by hand) and bondage trousers worn by Bladee in the music video. Ward would later list this outfit for sale on Depop in September of 2021. The other teaser was a macro shot of a spider - a screencap from the music video. Both posts included the text "Undergone" in the description without mention of other artists involved in the song.

The music video and calligraphy was done by Joe Ward, with art direction contributed by Bladee and Victor Svedberg (Cotton Mouth) of YEAR0001. The video was made together by Bladee, Ssaliva, and Joe Ward during spring of 2019 - possibly in Belgium as Bladee and Ssaliva had performed a show together at Trix Antwerp around that period.
Undergone remains the most recent upload on the drain gang YouTube channel that has comments disabled. They were disabled within a couple hours of the release.
