Frost God — Index · Drain Archive

Frost God is the 2nd mixtape by Yung Lean, released on December 14, 2016, via YEAR0001. The mixtape is produced by Whitearmor, Acea, Gud, Woesum and Troy Eric Mayers.

The mixtape features 8 tracks, with a total runtime of 25 minutes.

Release and promotion

Yung Lean began teasing the release of Frost God as early as February 2016, by previewing an early mix of Hennessy & Sailor Moon via an Instagram post. In June 2016, the artist also previewed Kirby live at his performance in Dallas, TX, during the Warlord Tour. Both of the songs quickly garnered a large amount of attention within Yung Lean's fanbase, commonly dubbed "Orangina" and "Dallas Unreleased", the two songs were incredibly anticipated all the way through to their release.

Later the same month, an early version of Crystal City was heard in the background of a Snapchat video taken by A$AP Ferg, during the song's studio session.

The only single from Frost God - Hennessy & Sailor Moon released on November 25, 2016, exclusively via Yung Lean's official YouTube channel. The song's release was not accompanied by the announcement of the mixtape. Frost God was then released on December 14, 2016.

Trivia

Frost God originally meant to include the unreleased track Birdies (feat. Bladee) produced by Acea and Woesum. Unfortunately, Acea couldn't finish the song in the album's deadline. The song leaked on March 13, 2024.
Frost God may be somehow connected with Psychopath Ballads as both projects use very similar aesthetics for their cover arts and they both released in the same period of time. It is speculated that Frost God and Psychopath Ballads represent two different sides of Jonatan Leandoer's work
